Project Details
Description
We will be producing a display about the representation of migration and diaspora communities in film, television and digital media. The core strands will include ‘The External Gaze’ – showing how migrant and diaspora communities have been represented in British media from the era of silent film to present day in fiction and documentary media, including a study of common tropes and the political climate that influenced the stories that were told – and ‘Diaspora self-representation’ – an investigation of how diaspora filmmakers have represented themselves and their communities, including a study of diaspora aesthetics.
