Description
Severndroog Castle is an atmospheric historic site - the stories surrounding its creation and use
are intertwined with empire, global trade and community life, and many of these remain underexplored.
The project will uncover and analyse these stories through empowering local
volunteers and creating accessible materials for visitors to explore the history of the Castle.
With expert academic input from Professor Peter D’Sena combined with strong community cocreation,
the project will aim to provide Severndroog Castle a wider range of inclusive,
participatory heritage interpretation, creating resources and installations that will remain in use
long beyond the life of the grant.
