Project Details
Description
Routine cancer screening can help spot cancers at an early stage when treatment is more likely to be successful. Unfortunately, those from a South Asian background, and Muslim people in particular, are less likely to go for cancer screening. We are making and sharing a training video for GPs and healthcare professionals working with Muslim communities, to raise awareness and help them support people to get screened. We are working with the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) and NHS England to do this. The video will give practical advice for doctors to make a real-life difference and reduce health inequalities.
