The City of Youth: Youth Perspectives on Urban Life

This project brings together the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation and the University of Hertfordshire’s PG Design programme to explore how young people experience and imagine Letchworth Garden City. Linked to the Barry Parker exhibition (Broadway Gallery, Letchworth Garden City, 16 January–7 March 2026), the project invites young people to share their ideas, memories, and aspirations for the town through a creative workshop that promotes participation, inclusivity, and youth agency. PG Design students develop these contributions into visual and design proposals, which are presented in a public exhibition at the University of Hertfordshire in May 2026 and subsequently in Letchworth in June 2026, open to young participants and the wider community. By making youth perspectives visible and accessible, the project strengthens community agency, supports heritage-led thinking, and fosters inclusive dialogue around the future of Letchworth.
