The Potato Revolution: Telling the Story of the Women who inspired the Swedish Hunger Uprisings of 1917 - Part 2

This funding application is a continuation of The Potato Revolution film’s success, with the goal of expanding its impact in new and unique ways. The film has been chosen to be featured as a 90-minute keynote at the XVI Nordic Labour History Conference 2025 in Finland (May 7-10) as an open-access, free event. Additionally, as the Finnish FWW experience was distinctly different from other Nordic countries, filmmaker Adam Jones-Lloyd and public historian Karen Brookfield (who has lived in Finland) will play a crucial role in capturing new material to enhance or reshape the film.
The completed film will also be screened at Umeå University in Sweden, who have expressed an interest in using the film as introductory educational material for a food poverty course. In addition, plans are underway for a free premiere of the Swedish film version to be hosted at the UNESCO farm Hälsingegården Erik-Anders in Söderhamn, where the original story began in 1917.
