Abstract

Purpose: Burnout is defined in the International Classification of Diseases as an occupational syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Burnout is widely recognised as a psychological consequence for clinicians working in critical care. A number of studies reported high levels of burnout in critical care nurses and physicians during the pandemic. The aim of this study was to longitudinally survey the incidence and severity of burnout, and the risk factors for burnout in UK physiotherapists, working in critical care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
