7 Steps of Applied Research Process: “Scholarship in Action”: Enhancing clinical inquiry and publication through evidence-based research design

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentationpeer-review

Abstract

This peer-reviewed conference presentation outlines a structured, seven-step framework for conducting applied clinical research, emphasising the integration of evidence-based medicine (EBM) into pharmacy and healthcare practice. The session introduces participants to the critical stages of the research process, including identification of the research problem, literature review, formulation of the research question using the PICO model (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome), proposal development, data collection and analysis, and publication. It highlights the importance of transforming clinical observations into answerable research questions and demonstrates practical tools such as the FADIC PICO Worksheet for improving the quality and efficiency of clinical investigations. By promoting scholarly inquiry and systematic methodology, the presentation aims to advance research capacity, critical thinking, and publication readiness among healthcare professionals.
