Abstract
Pharmacy training and education are continuously evolving. Mentorship, defined by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) as an advisor, career guide, skills consultant, and role model, is essential in this development. This study aims to investigate the role and outcomes of mentorship in pharmacy training. A systematic search of the PubMed database from 2000–2017 identified 180 unique citations. Eight cross-sectional studies with 662 pharmacy graduates were included. Mentorship was shown to enhance student-mentor interactions, foster team development, and improve perceptions and confidence in mentoring. The findings suggest that mentorship programmes are effective and beneficial, with significant positive outcomes for both mentees and mentors. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impact of mentorship in pharmacy professions.
