Abstract

Sir Alexander Fleming's Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) recognition underscores its severity, with estimates projecting 10 million deaths annually by 2050. Public Health England stresses Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) for responsible antibiotic use. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, evolved healthcare practices are crucial, advocating multidisciplinary approaches to combat AMR effectively. This study aims to explore AMS implementation and healthcare professionals' attitudes towards AMR and antibiotic prescribing during COVID-19 in an NHS Foundation Trust in England. Findings highlight the significance of multidisciplinary AMS teams in successful stewardship, increased collaboration during the pandemic, and the necessity for comprehensive strategies to address AMR challenges.
