Abstract

Power Quality (PQ) is the key assessment in the electrical distribution system. The quality of the power affects the performance of medical equipment for the right diagnosis. The medical equipment like X-ray machine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner, etc. can be effected by poor quality of the power which gives the wrong diagnosis to the patient and permanent damage to the critical RD Research Lab equipment. A modified p-q theory is proposed for these types of critical loads to improve the power quality. The proposed control theory with three-phase shunt APF is simulated in MATLAB/ SIMULINK software to test the compensation effectiveness for the medical and critical lab equipment.
