title = "Benefits of Battery Energy Storage for Effective Grid-Integration of PV Systems",
abstract = "Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are expected to play a crucial role in integrating photovoltaic systems (PV) of various scales into electricity networks. This paper assesses domestic battery storage technologies by examining their technical performance and economic feasibility for PV integration, optimizing the effectiveness of battery energy storage. Moreover, it investigates how the system achieves power and load balancing while enhancing overall reliability. A comprehensive review of a previous study is conducted. Public solar power data from the Thames Valley Vision Project is used. This simulation study focuses on a household that primarily relies on solar power, with additional support from a domestic battery before resorting to the grid. A data-driven approach is exclusively utilized, analysing three different scenarios: high PV penetration and low demand, low PV penetration and high demand, and average PV penetration and average demand. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the energy storage battery in smoothing the load demand under various PV generation conditions. This load-level analysis also provides the option to sell excess energy back to the grid, offering additional financial benefits to the consumer.",
