    Abstract

    This short chapter considers the themes of bigamy and the making of marriage in eighteenth-century Ireland. Using the case of David Clements, who tried to have his marriage celebrated by a Presbyterian minister, a Roman Catholic Priest and an Anglican Clergyman, it explores the complex legal situation of marriage in eighteenth-century Ireland.
