Abstract
Journalists sometimes crop up as detective-style investigators but usually only when investigating high crimes involving politician corruption or else when someone is unjustly facing execution. Mikhail Blomkvist, the lead character in the Millennium trilogy, is portrayed as a journalist, but in reality he is more of an alter ego for the author Steig Larsson, representing what an underdog investigative reporter specialising in detailed but less popular investigations of political groups would like their life to be like. In fact he is not a journalist as most journalists would consider themselves.
