Abstract

This chapter is in four main sections starting with an exploration of the research related to coaching women in judo, including some consideration of power harassment and sport-related violence. There are sections that address the tactical and technical considerations of coaching women in judo, and the chapter concludes with profiles of coaches, male coaches Roy Inman and Ryuji Sonoda, and female coaches Kate Howey and Yuko Fujii. These four coaches are profiled in this chapter as they are known for their success as coaches of women as distinct from the profiles in Chapter 7 of notable female judoka .
