Colour

Abstract

Peacock’s text ‘Colour’ is a rare example of writing exclusively about style in film. The book is the first monograph that examines close criticism of film colour, expanding across several decades and countries. It provides highly detailed analysis of films including ‘Three Colours: White’ and ‘The Green Ray.’ This text portrays a method of approaching, deciphering, and appreciating cinematic colour. The book also considers the ability of film to place colour in a shifting relationship with all the other types of style such as music, camerawork, lighting, editing and performance. This text is both accessible and creative, inviting the reader to view from a new perspective and varying ways, the overlooked element of cinema aesthetics.
