Abstract
This presentation focused on the role of pharmacists in improving adherence to therapy for chronic diseases, where adherence rates average 50% according to the WHO. Poor adherence leads to suboptimal health outcomes and increased healthcare costs. The discussion emphasised the importance of Comprehensive Medication Management (CMM) as a strategy to address nonadherence issues. By leveraging their training and qualifications, pharmacists can play a pivotal role in resolving medication-related problems, optimising therapy outcomes, and reducing healthcare burdens. The presentation highlighted key principles and practical approaches to implementing CMM, aiming to empower pharmacists to enhance patient-centred care and improve adherence rates.
