Abstract
The integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems into the grid plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy management. This paper presents the design and performance analysis of a 5-level multilevel inverter (MLI) tailored for grid-connected PV systems, highlighting its advantages in power quality enhancement, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) reduction, and efficiency improvement. The proposed MLI topology, along with its optimized control strategy, ensures stable and reliable energy conversion, facilitating seamless grid integration. This study provides a comprehensive examination of the design aspects, control methodologies, and performance metrics used to evaluate the inverter’s effectiveness. Simulation and experimental validation confirm that the proposed 5-level MLI significantly enhances PV system efficiency and reliability. By addressing key challenges in grid-connected PV applications, this work demonstrates that adopting the 5-level MLI contributes to a more resilient and less disruptive integration of renewable energy, further advancing the vision of sustainable power systems.
