Abstract
Recent studies have shown that Robot Mediated Therapy has great potential to
improve the outcome of stroke patients' rehabilitation. In this paper we present an overview
of our current system, Gentle/s, our methodology and the initial results of the clinical trial
obtained from our clinical center, Battle Hospital Reading. Our results show a positive trend
towards Robot Mediated Therapy being a useful intervention late after stroke. The small
numbers have allowed us to identify a statistical trend towards improved upper limb recovery
at a stage after stroke when no changes are clinically anticipated.
