Abstract

This thesis studies the birth of iconic architecture between the late 1990s and
the beginning of 2000, and is focused on the work of the Dutch firm Neutelings -
Riedijk. The production of iconic architecture is analysed through a series of design
techniques:icon through drawing, icon and silhouette, icon and image, icon and
analogy, icon and decoration and icon and sculpture.
