Abstract

Three-roll bending process is a widely used metal forming process in manufacturing of cylindrical parts. Various process parameters such as roll force, driving torque and springback potentially affect the shape of the product. This study aims to investigate the effect of process parameters on manufactured parts by employing finite element models of realistic cylindrical shapes generated in a commercial software. Material properties of the selected steel and aluminium are gathered through tension tests and the computational models are experimentally validated. Results such as residual stresses within finished parts are presented.
