Abstract
The paper discusses the common features of Islamic financial investments. The author provides an overview of the framework governing sharia-compliant investments including Musharaka, Mudaraba, Murabaha, Istisna, Ijara, Salam and Sukuk. The paper outlines the governance structure of Islamic finance including the role of Sharia boards and the key advantages and disadvantages of investing in Sharia-compliant investment products. Other areas covered will be the enforceability of sharia-based contracts in the English Courts.
