Abstract
Pearson's product moment correlation, r, describes the strength of the linear relation between two metric variables, such as extraversion and intelligence. Values range from −1 to +1. A scatterplot is necessary to interpret r. The proportion of variability accounted for by the linear relation is given by r[[sup]]2[[/sup]].
