Abstract
Practice-based research [PbR] is widely recognized in Europe but is less well recognised elsewhere. We are investigating this by making a comparative study of Swedish and Brazilian doctoral theses. The central question is: Is academic research in areas of design practice different from models of academic research in other areas?
