Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentationpeer-review

Abstract

This presentation introduced healthcare professionals to the PICO principle and the critical skills required for providing accurate and effective drug information. By breaking down clinical questions into four components — Patient, Intervention, Comparator, and Outcome — the PICO framework enables evidence-based practice and enhances the quality of healthcare decision-making. The session also highlights the evolution of evidence-based medicine. Participants learnt essential competencies, including critical thinking, literature evaluation, and communication strategies, which are fundamental for delivering reliable drug information. The lecture emphasised the importance of formulating structured clinical queries and accessing high-quality sources to support clinical decisions. Designed for pharmacists, clinicians, and healthcare students, this course equips attendees with practical tools to integrate evidence into practice, improve patient outcomes, and promote the responsible use of medications in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
