Abstract

This study provides an overview of the diverse applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), highlighting its impact on our daily lives and its disruptive influence on various businesses and industries. In this study, it is argued that the concept of the fifth industrial revolution known as Industry 5.0 should be redefined with GenAI at its core, considering the technology s pervasive and rapidly expanding nature, its disruptive impact, and the diversity of its application to almost all sectors. The innovative disruptions caused by GenAI are comparable to those of previous industrial revolutions, hence the argument for a fundamental shift in how we understand and integrate this technology within Industry 5.0. Moreover, we present ethics, security, and the rapid diffusion of Internet of Things technologies as other characteristics of Industry 5.0. These are in addition to the sustainability, resilience, and human-centric elements previously defined within the literature.
