Abstract
The presentation reports on the feasibility to derive microphysical parameters of bimodal particle size distributions on the basis of Mie-Raman lidar instruments consisting of a tripled Nd:YAG laser. Such an instrument provides backscatter coefficients at 355, 532, and 1064 rim, and extinction coefficients at 355 and 532 run. The method employed is Tikhonov's inversion with regularization. Special attention has been paid to extend the particle size range for which the inversion scheme works to 20 gin which makes this algorithm applicably to large particles.
