Abstract
The opening of the Channel Tunnel will have important implications for accessibility and the European space economy. There has been a significant growth in multidisciplinary research related to the impact of the Channel Tunnel which has considered the spatial consequences for the UK and mainland Europe. However, no major reviews have been published in geographical journals which provide an overview of current research directions on this theme. Each of the papers in this volume reviews recent research on the Channel Tunnel, emphasizing the spatial consequences and likely outcomes for the human and physical environment. The papers are briefly summarized and a number of conclusions arising from them are discussed. © 1994.
