Abstract

Bending of sheet metals is a widely used process in modern manufacturing industries. The amount of elastic recovery and springback should be considered in order to acquire the desired part shape. In recent years, finite element method (FEM) has become an important technique to simulate metal forming applications such as bending process. In this paper, bending and springback of some selected materials in various bending operations are analyzed by using a commercially available FEM software, and outputs as springback amounts and equivalent von Mises stresses are submitted. Some of the FEM results are compared to the available empirical formulae in the literature and a good agreement has been achieved.
