Abstract
An idea to synthesize Fock states for pulsed light beams is presented. It uses an array of beam splitters with several input ports which are fed with single-photon Fock states. Detectors survey all but one output port of this array, the free port is the one to produce the sought Fock state. The optimal setup for the array of beam splitters is introduced.
