Abstract

The evolution of banking over the last forty years is primarily due to the means of distributing banking products and services rather than the types of products offered by banks. To address these developments, banks have adopted "internet banking" as an integral part of their growth strategy. The purpose of this paper is to present the development of "internet banking" (e-banking) in Greece and its future prospects compared to traditional banking distribution channels. Specifically, it will examine whether internet banking replaces or complements "traditional banking" in the physical distribution channels of banks, which constitutes the main research hypothesis of this paper, as well as analyze the attitudes and perceptions of individuals using internet banking.
