The endpoint of the rp-process on accreting neutron stars

Abstract

We find that the rp process in X-ray bursts and in steady state burning, for example in X-ray pulsars, ends in a SnSbTe cycle. We discuss the consequences for the neutron star crust composition an X-ray burst light curves.
