    Abstract

The philosophy and design of Socially Adept Technologies were discussed. A Socially Adept Technology was one that could interact with its user in a sensible fashion in whatever situation the user found themselves in, from whatever culture the user came, and in whatever manner the user required. A multidisciplinary approach, incorporating sociology, psychology, artificial intelligence, agent-based design, understandings of artificial life was presented for the purpose.
