Abstract

VERL is a research project funded by a €5M European Union grant, which consolidates established world-class European research in video art, digital film and 3D computer visualisation especially at high resolutions. VERL and Creative Scotland commissioned four International artists to develop new innovative digital films. The completed films form a package which was screened across Europe at various venues during 2012 / 2013. The research produced new paradigms for digital film production which were disseminated throughout the community of researchers and practitioners via conference presentation, published papers and screenings. The impact of the project is exemplified by the teams commission by government agencies in the UK: Screen South and Denmark: Film Fyn to produce a new project with European filmmakers.
