Abstract

AERU at the University of Hertfordshire have developed an indicator to inform on the environmental, human health and biodiversity impacts of the agricultural use of pesticides. This indicator will be used as the basic for ungrading the Waitrose pesticide policy which is used by Waitrose suppliers globally. The indicator is based on that developed for the Danish Pesticide Tax, modified to the specific policies and priorities of waitrose and delivered as a highly user-friendly spreadsheet providing in which pesticide used in crop production are categorised according to risks and presented in a colour-code fashion.
