Abstract

Tourism in east and northeast Asia includes some of the world’s most important countries for inbound and outbound tourism, as well as areas that are either extremely isolated or which are only now beginning to be substantially opened for tourism. Tourism in the region has arguably been dominated by successive “waves” of pent-up travel demand for international travel from the major economies in the region, although inbound tourism has acquired substantially dierent characteristics.
