Abstract
Tourism is a major source of revenue for London and its growth in the future poses planning problems. It is emphasised that to exploit tourism to the full a long-term strategic plan needs to be devised. This article outlines tourism planning attempts throughout the 1980's. The conclusions of The Tourism Impact Study: a report addressing the issues of tourism with accommodation, with the environment, and with the transport system, are reviewed. It is concluded that without a coherent tourism planning strategy congestion in London will worsen and tourist appeal will diminish. -N.Davey
