Abstract

In this paper we present our findings of using the Repertory Grid Technique with over two hundred software practitioners in thirteen UK software companies. We use our findings to establish the ways in which inspections can be optimised to be more effective and successful as a software engineering fool. Our findings suggest that, contrary to conventional wisdom, developers are very positive about using inspections that generate engineering benefit. Often inspections are implemented in such a way as to only benefit managers
