Visual Shakespeare: essays in film and television

G. Holderness

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

Published in books and journals between 1984 and 1998, these essays constitute a resource for the study of Shakespeare in the media. These essays have been acknowledged as pioneering applications of the terms of Shakespeare criticism to film theory and media study. The fact that film and television versions of Shakespeare are now accepted as a standard element of Shakespeare studies is due in no small part to the work collected in this volume. The volume also includes a bibliography of work in this particular field.
