Abstract

This study evaluated participation of 55 South Centre Member States in the WHO Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) from 2016–2023, identifying patterns, gaps, and determinants of engagement. Findings demonstrated increasing enrolment in AMR surveillance, although major gaps remain in antimicrobial use surveillance, laboratory infrastructure, digital systems, and workforce capacity. Strengthening surveillance systems is essential for effective antimicrobial stewardship and global health security.
