Abstract

Marty St James background as an artist is in Performance Art and Video Art but has always made drawings. The works in this show relate to his two artist residencies in Antarctica (2010/ 2014). His works on paper are described as performic actions as found in the act of making drawings. There are three elements central to his works, the performic action, the relationship between the moving and the static and the notion of (as he names it): the extended portrait. He makes both figurative and abstract works. He will be exhibiting 17 new artworks not shown before.
