Dr Athanasios Tsokanos is a Principal lecturer in Computer Science in the University of Hertfordshire. His main area of teaching and research is Networks and Cybersecurity. Currently, he has several PhD students and active research projects. He has collaborated in the past with industrial partners such as Google and he has a current collaboration with Juniper Networks. He is an assistant programme leader responsible for the MSc in Cybersecurity. He holds a PhD in Networking, an MSc in Mobile and satellite communications, a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, 2 Networking certificates and he is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK.

In the past he has worked as a technical specialist in the Strategic Technologies Division of JA.NET UK which is responsible for the UK’s academic network and as a lecturer in the University of Plymouth.

A typical PhD programme lasts about 3 years and while you will not have to attend any taught courses you will have to attend development seminars arranged by the doctoral college. We welcome PhD applications but we expect very good English language skills and very good academic achievements, typically an MSc.
