Dr Caitlin Shaw


Caitlin Shaw is a Lecturer in Film and Television in the School of Creative Arts, where she teaches theory and history on the BA and MA programmes. She joined Creative Arts after completing her PhD at De Montfort University on retrospective representations of the 1980s in contemporary British film and television, and has previously taught at Oxford Brookes University, De Montfort University and Western University (Ontario, Canada). She is co-editor of The Past in Visual Culture: Essays on Memory, Nostalgia and the Media (2017), and her work appears in that volume as well as in the Journal of British Cinema and Television and in Cinema, Television and History: New Approaches (2014). Her current research focuses on history, memory and nostalgia in contemporary transnational ‘quality’ television drama.
