Ellie completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Hertfordshire in 2016, being awarded the Biochemical Society Undergraduate Award, for the highest achiever in the academic year.

Ellie is currently a Visiting Lecturer and PhD candidate in the School of Life and Medical Sciences. Her PhD research is titled 'Identifying New Compounds for S100P in Pancreatic Cancer Therapy'. She is looking at the interaction between S100P, a protein which is involved in cell proliferation, metastasis, and invasion in pancreatic cancer, and novel compounds, which are targetted to inhibit S100P's actions. She is achieving this by looking at the structure of the interactions using techniques including 1D & 2D NMR, ITC and ELISA based assays. She has access to instruments at University of Hertfordshire, The Francis Crick Institute, and the Biomedical Centre at the University of Liverpool, to enable her to carry out these experiments.
