Starting with a physics oriented scientific background, Guillaume’s career path rapidly developed into various aspects of healthcare education. Over the last couple of decades Guillaume has gained a broad range of expertise in various countries through teaching and research activities, and published widely.

His main area of expertise revolves around “simulation” and spans from clinical simulation centre design, train the trainer courses, scenario design at the single patient level through to organizing simulated large scale mass casualty incidents involving multiple emergency services.  Other simulation modalities he regularly implements include the use of patient simulators, simulated and standardized patients, tabletop exercises, and visually enhanced mental simulation.

In these various activities, Guillaume is regularly working alongside clinicians from different specialties and professions including Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Trauma. He is involved in projects such as Major Incident Response planning, high acuity patients’ transfers and retrieval training, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) team building, clinical handovers…

Guillaume holds two substantial positions: He is a Professor of Simulation in Healthcare at the University of Hertfordshire but also the Director of Research for Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service, Doha, Qatar, where he primarily works and resides. Guillaume is also a Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University in Newcastle.
