Overview

My research experience covered a wide range of material chemistry, and my current projects are focusing on followings:

1) Formulation, functionality, dispersibility, and toxicity of antiviral & antimicrobial nanoparticles (AVNP/AMNP) for biomedical and healthcare applications. My most recent research was centering on antiviral & antimicrobial filtration systems for water/air for a hospital surgical filtration system in collaborations with UCL Civil, Engineering and GOSH (EP/N034368/1 and EP/N034228/1, 06-09).

2) Conjugations of antiviral/antimicrobial nanoparticles (metals and organics) with antivirals, antibiotics or small molecules aiming at enhancing antibiotics and repurposed antivirals.

3) Characterization of antiviral & antimicrobial nanoparticles (organics and inorganics) as a continuation of the AVNP Consortium sponsored by DTI-SEEDA (£3.2M, 05-10), which achieved 3 key antiviral patents as outcomes (i.e. US2013/0091611A1 (13-14).

Previous research sponsored by the EPSRC, IUK/BIS, Euratom and FCO also covered lightweight polymeric and ceramic matrix composites, natural fiber's sustainability and life cycle assessment (LCA), Radar Cross-section (RCS) reduction using carbon-based nanoparticles, a collaborative activity for fission energy targeting engineering-barrier system (EBS) using silicates-bentonite minerals, and for storage canisters using antimicrobial materials (Cu/Steels) for the possible geological nuclear waste repository.
