Overview

I am a lecturer in law and teach in several areas including contract law, digital technologies, electronic communications law and data protection. I graduated from Ankara University School of Law in Turkey. I hold MS and LLM degrees respectively from Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and the University of Essex (UK). I have my first PhD degree from Selcuk University (Turkey) in the field of private law with a focus on contract, competition and telecommunications laws. I completed my second PhD at Anglia Ruskin University (UK) doing research on regulatory governance of ICT interoperability also from a multidisciplinary perspective. Before this, I have had professional experience as an ICT expert in the Turkish telecommunications regulator for a period of over ten years.

I have specialisation in IT and telecommunications law, with significant extensions to contract law, competition law and intellectual property (IP) law. I am highly interested in regulation of information and communication technologies from the perspective of interoperability, competition and innovation aspects particularly in view of the emerging technologies e.g. Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and accompanying issues of accountability, transparency, and liability. I have so far investigated the interfaces between competition, IP and IT laws in view of the cutting edge technological developments, and would like to further this towards algorithmic society and regulation in the future.
