Dr Oluyomi Simpson


Dr Oluyomi Simpson received his PhD degree in communications and electronics engineering from the University of Hertfordshire (UH), Hatfield, UK. His PhD thesis is concerned with cognitive and cooperative wireless communications. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in communications and electronics engineering, academic lead of the communications lab and a key researcher in the wireless communication and RF systems research lab with the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science (SPECS) at UH.

His research interests and technical expertise are in wireless communication and RF systems, including 5G/6G wireless communication systems, physical layer security, machine learning in communications, cognitive radio communication systems, cooperative and relay networks and communications, RFID technologies and applications and RF energy harvesting communications. Dr Simpson’s research embraces an innovative focus on inter-disciplinary applications. He has researched, supervised, and executed projects that enable efficient adoption of wireless communication algorithms, RF techniques and sensor fusion in telecommunication, electronic, instrumentation and manufacturing industry. His work has been published and presented in numerous journals and leading international conferences. His research has been funded by government agencies and industry such as ERDF, IUK and NDDC.
