Description

£3325.16 awarded for Learning and Teaching Innovation by Associate Dean Learning and Teaching (Karen Robins) to cover technical support, project equipment and to facilitate piloting. £6950 awarded by the Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre to cover researcher time, additional technical support, conference fees and piloting.

Using a soft-system methodology, the researchers collaborate with key stakeholders including students, learning technologists, learning and teaching experts and faculty from both the Business School and other social sciences to develop a practical e-tool for the formative and summative assessment of research methods. The tool is founded on decision making within real research contexts, thereby challenging students to engage in application and synthesis. This enables a more immersive and action-oriented approach to supporting students in developing their understanding of research approaches in advance of undertaking research-based dissertations. It also contributes to knowledge in the development of a skeletal framework through which to understand areas of consistency and coherence in RM decisions, and the mapping of those decisions against the evolution of project development. This has wider potential to support an understanding of discipline specific practices in RM and RM learning and teaching.
