This project uses a narrative approach to collect and analyse stories of refugees learning English in the UK, giving this marginalised population the opportunity to be heard by their host commuity and allowing the refugees themselves the opportunity to recognise how they have built resilience over time. It will involve the creation of composite stories - the use of data from several interviews to tell a single story - allowing authentic but anonymous stories to be shared publicly. Data will be collected with the help of two local ESOL practitioners. These composite stories will provide narrative knowledge of refugees' experiences to inform the practice of English language teachers and providers of their professional development, in addition to providing a learning resource for other refugees.
