A premiere recording of 'Cabaret Concerto' by Martin Ellerby, commissioned by Philip Mead which is one of the results of a fifteen year research project to create a new genre of music - that of music music and brass.The work is a series of jazz movements inspired by paintings of Whistler recorded by its dedicatee.


Martin Ellerby is the front ranking composer for brass band. He responded to this commission from Philip Mead with enthusiasm and has produced a stunning new work. Performed by Philip Mead and the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band it has been broadcast and performed to great acclaim. This CD is the third in a series of CD's of the work of Martin Ellerby and the score is published by Studio Music. It has had high level performances at major venues and had many favourable reviews.
